The Power Of Editing | Photography

Hey there!

I wanted to talk to you today about editing images, I have really pushed myself in 2018 practising editing whenever I can, sat in front of the TV, lying in bed, a spare 10 minutes even testing new apps on the bus to work. Whenever and wherever I could I was editing.

You hear all the time "shooting in raw changes the game" and I am hear to tell you shooting raw changes the game when I finally got the hang of editing raw I couldn't believe my eyes. I could now take a shot I wouldn't look twice at and making a beautiful piece of art. I strongly believe that you need to take a photo you are proud of and takes an element of skill to be a photographer otherwise you're an editor, which is fine but please stop taking my clients.

I wanted to show you some of my favourite before's and afters that I am super proud of from the last few months. You can see the transformation these images take by simply colour grading, alternating the contrast and working the white balance. If you want a full tutorial on how I typically edit my images let me know!

They may not be extremely drastic changes but learning new ways to edit can really improve your images. At the end of the day its all about being creative and messing about, I have learnt about 0.000001% of the things that are possible on Photoshop alone - practice and see what happens.

Rebecca | Photography

I am so excited to finally show you the shoot I did with Rebecca in 2018, this shoot was like a fun challenge for myself as we didn't have a lot of time to shoot. In total we shot for about an hour and we got some amazing shots!

We headed down to Whitley Bay lighthouse to shoot and it was such a nice day, the sun was shining and the sky was blue - feels like that could never be possible now. We also attempted to shoot in the caravan park but we unfortunately were unable to do that - still think it would be a cool location to shoot.

I am super pleased with how these images turned out. Rebecca and I are looking to shoot again in 2019 so hopefully more content to come!

I'm All Ears | Disney Ears #Gifted

It is no secret that I am a big Disney fan so when Lauren from @tangledlaurenears sent me an instagram message and asked if she could send me some of the Disney ears she's designed and made I could not turn that offer down. I find myself constantly scrolling down Etsy looking at the ears people make dreaming of my next trip and planning my outfits around a staple of a Disney trip, so to have a unique pair fills me with joy.

My favourite Disney princess film is Tangled and I have been eyeing up a pair of tangled ears for my Florida trip this year so when these turned up at my door I was ecstatic. Florida really can't come soon enough it has been a dream of mine for a long time and I am finally going in November  with my Auntie's and it's going to be insane. Lauren did an amazing job on these ears, I love the pattern I mean come on who doesn't love a strong independent woman.

Words can't explain how much I love Wreck it Ralph although I was a bit disappointed with the second one. Never the less I adore the first one so when Lauren asked what pair of ears I would like I couldn't not say Wreck it Ralph. I am so pumped to have these ears as it is such a rare design to see despite the sequel coming out recently. Once again I think the pattern of the material is amazing and really stands out with the little details such as the candy cane. I will 100% be wearing these in the parks.

Although I haven't been wearing these for long periods of time just yet I do think some Disney ears can squeeze your head, when I went to Paris in September I could not even wear ears cause I was so unwell. That being said in the short period of time I tested these ears out they were very comfortable, well made and fit to my head well so fingers crossed after a long period of time they will continue to be comfortable.

Once again thank you so much to Lauren for gifting me these ears, I can't wait to strut around the parks wearing these! Make sure you check out Lauren's instagram page for more information and products.

I Got a Degree | Graduation

I'm just as shocked as you are

3 years ago I packed up all my belongings into my mums purple fiat and left for Leeds. My time at Leeds have been amazing and it has truly changed my life, I am not the person I used to be I am so much more confident and have learnt life skills I would have never thought i'd know how to do - like call the police on an extremely aggressive neighbour or learn how to throw a great party.

Throughout uni I lived with some wonderful, amazing, incredible humans (you's know who you are) and I could not of asked for a better uni experience. I haven't been as scared or laughed as hard as in 62 Chapel Lane.

You may be wondering what course I did and where I went? No well i'll tell you. I studied Film and Television Studies at Leeds Trinity University. My course was very theory based but we did get to do some cool stuff, we made a live show in first year, a 10 minute podcast about ghosts in second year and I even made a short film all on my own (apart from the actors, thanks again Hannah and Katie). I learnt about Bollywood even if I wish I didn't, learnt how to operate a live TV studio, interviewed people on the street about why they like Little Mix and so so so much more. It was a blast!

Graduation was such a good day after moving back home it was so exciting to see all my friends again and celebrate together at what we have achieved.

Next steps for me is to move back to Newcastle, get a full time job and become a photographer.

21.07.2018 Graduated with 2:1 BA hons in Film and Television degree.

I want to give some special shout outs to the ones who made my university so amazing.

Maddy - Thank you for cleaning the house all the time and looking after me when I was tired and sad
Jasmine - Thank you for making me laugh and being my rock throughout uni
Kendra - Thank you for helping me with my dissertation and being my number one support
Melanie - Thank you for being there since day one, you and me got a whole lot of history
Tom - Thank you for applying for this job and being the funniest guy I know
