                                                                Make a house a home

A genre of photography I never thought I would fall into was real estate. It’s surprisingly a lot of fun! 

Alongside my portrait photography in 2020 I fell into real estate photography through a family friend. It is something I hope to do more of this year.

The aim of the images below is to advertise a newly refurbished house that was turned into a house share. If I hadn’t found my flat I might of moved in the rooms were stunning. Before I arrived another company “dressed” the home, I think that’s what it’s called please don’t quote me. They basically made the beds, decorated the bedrooms and sliced a loaf of bread. I loved walking round taking photos and seeing all the little details they had put together ready for me to do my thing.

I would be lying if I said I wasn’t nervous, it was a completely new avenue for me but I quickly fell into the routine. As a natural light fan I was worried the images would come out dark or grainy but they turned out great. I have been spending a large portion of my life learning new editing techniques, the amount you can do on Photoshop never fails to amaze me. I’m still exploring the tip of the ice berg. 

I wanted to show you some of the images I took last year. I have only done a couple of real estate shoots due to the pandemic and it takes a while to refurbish a house, I’m not expert but it’s certainly more than a month. 

Rome | Travel

For a moment I forgot my blog wasn't just another outlet for me to post photography, I miss just sitting down and writing so I thought I would talk about my trip to the beautiful city of Rome. Back in March myself and my dad took a mini break away to Rome, I've never been to Italy but I have seen the Lizzie McGuire movie so it felt right.

We only went for a couple of days but it was absolutely amazing, it's one of those cities that people on instagram always seem to be visiting and its plastered all over travel sites as the "ultimate city break" but in all honestly I only ever seem to be interest in attending holidays if they're to Disney. That being said I loved every second of our little getaway!

We started the trip off by going to a restaurant around the corner from our hotel where they served what I can only describe as the best bread I have ever tasted, it was so good we went twice. Months later I miss this bread so much.

The next day was our first proper day and we decided to go and see what we had decided was the Spanish Steps (that is exactly what it is not) it's a monument where there is an anonymous Italian soldier inside that represents the Italian army and he is guarded 24/7 - this monument became a  "we are lost but near our hotel" spot.

We spent the rest of the day walking miles, eating ice cream and exploring.

My all time favourite day was our guided tour of the Roman Forum and the Colosseum. Both myself and my dad love history and we love to learn, I had barely any knowledge about gladiators so it was so interesting to learn all about that form of entertainment. My favourite part of that day was 100% the Roman Forum, walking around all the ruins yet still being in the middle of a huge city was a bizarre experience. Learning the value of the ruins and how the Romans used to go by their day to day was so interesting to me, was like walking in the past. My dad then went back to the forum and I laid in bed and watched Glee - my perfect holiday really.

We spent the rest of the holiday relaxing and hitting the top historical destinations, we happened to arrive the week all the historical activities were free - would be rude not to. Unfortunately I did not get to see the pope but maybe next time.

Molly and Elliot | Couples Photo-shoot

It takes a true professional to capture the love between two people, and Jess has done just that.

Going to a beautiful forest in Leeds, Jess photographed Molly and Elliot who had requested a couples photo-shoot. Jess managed to capture pure unfiltered love between two people, something which some photographers with twice her experience just cannot do. It's hard to photograph people and capture true emotion without it looking fake, and I truly believe Jess has mastered this skill. The pictures are truly stunning and Jess if you're reading this you should be proud of how far you've come.

Can you believe its March already? The year is absolutely flying by!

We've already had some absolutely stunning photo-shoots here at Jessica Rose Photography, and one of them included this shoot with Molly on the streets of Leeds! With the snow slowly melting and the temperature still being a steady freezing, wrap up warm and check out this incredibly beautiful photo-shoot.

There's nothing like showing off your photography skills by using just what you have around you, and Jess knows how to utilise the beautiful lighting Leeds has to offer. Taking Molly around all the trendy bars near Briggate, Jess has managed to create stunning shots.
