50mm Lens | Photography

I am a massive photography fan, it's something I love to do and one day hope to have a career that involves it. I am always trying to branch out and experiment with photography. So today whilst in Leeds I popped into WY Cameras which is a camera exchange, to check out what cheap lens they had available for my camera. I wanted to try something new without breaking the bank.

After talking to him for about 10 minutes and looked at a couple of lens he recommended a 50 mm Deep Focus lens (£30 lens and adaptor) and as soon as he took a photo using it I was sold. I am fascinated by focus the way it can make street lights blur together to create patterns or the way you can crisply see every eyelash.

Whilst walking around Leeds I had my camera around my neck looking for any opportunity to snap a photo. I am going to show you some of the photos I took today, they aren't amazing as I only got it today so I'm still getting my head around it. The lens I bought is completely manual which is something I am not yet used to as although I always use manual focus I'm still finding it tricky to get the correct aperture. It just takes practice.

It Finally Snowed in Leeds

After seeing endless pictures of the snow back home in Newcastle and praying it would snow here, I felt a bit left out of all the snowy based fun. Finally my prayers were answered and the snow started falling, heavier than expected and within a matter of hours the ground was white and it was beyond cold.

Once the snow finally stopped falling, myself and my friend Luke decided to throw on our biggest coats (I'm wearing his cause I was unprepared) and sturdiest shoes and head out into the cold.

I took my Sony camera and took some snaps of the beautiful snow. We were really lucky and it came and went without any issues, there was no horrible slush or icy paths, which is always the worst part about snow and winter in general .

Forgotten Photography

Back in summer myself and Beth went out on our famous mate dates to the Harvester, so naturally I decided to bring my Canon along with me. Although I didn't take many photos I did take a couple that I love and not 100% sure why I never posted them.

I really miss summer purely because I spent every moment with a camera in my hand obsessed with the magic of photography, don't get me wrong I still love it so much but I just don't have the time to go on random photography adventures like I used to.

Anyway, here are my favourite shots from the random shoot we had.

Lush | 50% Sale

January sales mean one thing and one thing only, LUSH SALE!

I went to town with Laura quite a while ago now and to be quite honest our time in lush was a bit of a blur. Frantically smelling everything, glitter everywhere, violently shoving the things into the paper bags they give you and all round just going mental. At this point we were the only people in the shop. Usually I'm not massively fussed about Lush bath bombs, I really love their skin care and body washes but as soon as Candy Mountain is on the shelves I'm a new woman.

I bought quite a few bath bombs and honestly it wasn't that expensive, I got 8 for just under £15 which is such a bargain I'm still not over it! I decided to do a little haul and show you the ones I got, of course Lush products have tonnes and tonnes of good things in them, which is always a bonus!
Since it's like the 15th  of January I'm not 100% sure if they'll have any of this stock left as they're the Christmas collection but I mean, worth a try!

Shoot for the Stars

Lush Pud
Golden Wonder

ButterBear
Saturn
The Magic of Christmas
Pepping Santa
Star Dust
Candy Mountain
I literally love Lush so I went in with my Sony Alpha and took some cute shots around the shop. I am not going to lie this is the most awkward I have felt in a long time. I wish my camera didn't make so many noises. Despite the awkwardness I am really happy with how the photos turned out.

Sorry I couldn't leave links the Christmas stock is no longer online. Let me know what your favourite Lush product is, mine is Candy Mountain, I'm dying to know all the secrets Lush has to offer.

Photography | 2015

This year was a great year in regards to my photography as I finally got my DSLR and I could not be happier. I decided to go back and look at all the photos I took this year and my favourites by far are the ones I forced my friends to be models for.
From these photos it is clear that I was experimental with my locations but not necessarily the types of photos I took. So in 2016 I am going to be more experimental and creative with the photos I take, as I feel 2015 was focused on models.

Overall, I feel like my photography has really progressed this year and I am really hoping that as I work through the Read this if you want to take great photographs book my skills will improve.

My main photography aim for 2016 is to get more candid photos, I want to go into the city and capture daily life rather than posed models, which I do enjoy and will continue but it won't be my main focus. I'm ready to try something new.

Here are a few of my favourite modelling photos of 2015
